Our History: Who We Are First Presbyterian Church has been a Christian presence in Vallejo and the surrounding area since 1862, ever since the days when this city was a village with unpaved streets, tall masted wooden ships being serviced at Mare Island, and before gas lamps had been installed to light the streets at night. Over the past hundred and more years, this community has changed dramatically, but First Presbyterian Church is still here, witnessing to the love of God, and seeking to meet contemporary needs in new and challenging times.
Our Mission: Why We Are Here We are a diverse congregation where all belong and become friends by sharing in the grace and love of the family of God, as we grow through worship, Bible study, and practicing Jesus' teachings in our daily lives. Our mission reflects our core values which include spiritual growth, friendship, and a strong sense of belonging. We carry out our mission through the spiritual, educational, and social activities of our congregation.
Our Vision: What God is Calling Us to Become We believe that God offers us opportunities to grow – individually and as a community of faith. At First Presbyterian Church in Vallejo we see God calling to grow by:
Welcoming friends of all ages into our diverse and caring congregation,
Making disciples of Jesus Christ through worship, education, small groups, and service
Growing spiritually through understanding God's word and God's purpose for our lives
Learning to use our God-given gifts in service to Jesus Christ and to the larger community.
Whoever you are, and wherever you may be on your journey of faith, you will find a warm welcome in this place and in this community of faith.
